WEEK 3: Weekly Journal with DILG
June 26-30
During my week 3 with DILG I was assigned to help my fellow intern to the GK or Gawad Kalasag MDRRMO evaluation. I thought it was so easy to do but in the long run, I admit that it was kinda hard not mentally but physically. My back was aching sitting all day and looking at the computer, my brother-in-law jokingly told me that after a month I got to have my glasses because of the radiation from the computer. As I have observed regarding how the LGU's think about this GK seriously, I can really tell who are those municipalities or provinces that are really looking into their risks and hazards, how they manage to ease the casualties that their place suffers and how alert they are in responding and giving aid to their people. I've seen also how many people are really qualified in their work which they really do spend their time managing their task and giving satisfaction to the community. I also have evaluated my hometown, I've checked their papers and they miss only few papers, but they manage to perform their duties to the municipality, as I have experienced, they give a lot of effort in the disaster risk. Due to the convention, we had fewer jobs but It was a productive one.
We also attended a webinar: UGNAYAN SERIES: Service Oriented LGU's where we've learned about the different perceptions of each LGU regarding the Decentralization of the state where we also have tackled to our subject on USA Government and Politics. In which I've learned that decentralization refers to the distribution of power, control, or authority away from a central authority or governing body. It involves the transfer of decision-making and operational responsibilities to multiple individuals, organizations, or systems, often spread across different locations. Wherein in LGU it empowers LGUs to make decisions and take actions that are responsive to the specific needs and conditions of their respective areas. Whereas The purpose of decentralization is to promote local participation, enhance democratic governance, improve public service delivery, and foster socio-economic development by allowing decisions to be made closer to the people affected by them. It is a means of empowering local communities and promoting good governance at the local level.
